Montgomery's Innovators

Who we are

Montgomery’s INNovators is a citizen-led, membership-based organization. It is governed by a board of directors elected by the members at an Annual Meeting.

Montgomery’s INNovators was formed in March, 2011, in response to the dissolution of its City-appointed advisory board.

As of Oct. 1, 2011, Montgomery’s INNovators is incorporated through the Ontario Historical Society. Its first Annual General Meeting will be held next Spring.

What we do

Montgomery’s INNovators provides leadership and support to ensure that Montgomery’s Inn continues to be both an active museum, and a gathering place in the community.

As the community around us evolves, so does the role of the Inn. In 180 years, it has been a family farm, a tavern, an inn, a family home, a rental farm, a church, and a museum. 40 years ago, it was saved from the wrecker’s ball, restored, and opened as a museum. Two community groups made it happen: the Montgomery Ratepayers and the Etobicoke Historical Society. 20 years later, some of the same volunteers rallied to build the modern addition to the building that houses the library, the Briarly Room, offices, and storage space. The Inn’s roots as a working
farm are celebrated by the farmers’ market that started in 2010. In 2011, an outdoor bake
oven was built for baking bread for the farmers’ market. How can you find out more and get involved?
